Globally renowned Social Entrepreneur, Hilary Cottam, visited Grimsby in late September and found time to tour the #MadeGreatInGrimsby seafood cluster employing 6,000 jobs in the town.
Hilary was accompanied by Cluster Director, Simon Dwyer and North East Lincolnshire Council’s Claire Thompson. As well as viewing the wide ranging seafood processing activity on Grimsby Port they took time to visit Grimsby Traditional Smokehouse, Alfred Enderby Limited. Hilary was entertained by Enderby’s proprietor, Patrick Salmon, met the team preparing their award winning smoked fish and talked to their enthusiastic staff about their enjoyment of working in the heritage smokehouse for Patrick and his wife, Toni.
Hilary said “It was a whistle stop tour of the seafood processing cluster, and I only wish I had more time to meet more of the many people employed in the cluster. It’s a great excuse to come back to Grimsby again and meet with Claire and Simon”
During her stay in Grimsby Hilary also delivered two workshops with employees in local industry, and met with other local business owners and representatives from public, community and voluntary organisations committed to working together for the future of the town.
