Seafood Cluster Descend on Fishmongers’ Hall to Meet Iceland Seafood Industry

October 08, 2021

Over 20 Grimsby & Humber region seafood businesses travelled to Fishmongers’ Hall, London, to meet their seafood trading partners from Iceland on 7th October.

Arranged by the Icelandic Embassy in London, participants listened to organisations from Iceland talk about Iceland’s credentials for fish stock management, certification and catching techniques.

The event was hosted by Gustaf Baldvinsson of Ice-Fresh, Grimsby, who thanked the Fishmongers’ Hall team for the use of their outstanding facility and excellent lunch of Icelandic seafood prepared by an Icelandic Chef.

Attendees from Grimsby included representatives of Seafood Grimsby & Humber Board and The Grimsby Fish Merchants Association. Board member Joanne Gregory commented “It was a pleasure to attend the event in such a palatial setting as Fishmongers’ Hall. The level of detail of the presentations from our Icelandic colleagues was overwhelming and gives us all a greater understanding of the fishing and catching practices and quota setting. Topped off with a superb lunch too”.
