Empowering the Future: Seafood Grimsby and Humber Alliance Appoints Schools Ambassador for Regional Seafood Cluster

Seafood Grimsby and Humber Alliance (SGHA) a driving force in the regional seafood industry, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Joanne Woodhouse as the Schools Ambassador for the dynamic seafood cluster. This strategic move aims to foster connections with regional schools, inspiring the next generation's interest in the vibrant and sustainable world of seafood processing.

 

The appointment of a dedicated Schools Ambassador underscores Seafood Grimsby and Humber Alliance's commitment to education, community engagement, and the long-term sustainability of the seafood cluster in the region.

 

Joanne, who will continue in her primary role as Trust Wide Curriculum Lead - Welfare Curriculum & Careers for David Ross Educational Trust, will independently represent SGHA and serve as a liaison between the seafood industry and local schools. 

 

Joanne will join the SGHA Skills sub-group board and focus on educational outreach facilitating educational programs to enlighten students about the diverse facets of the seafood industry, from responsible sourcing to culinary arts and environmental stewardship. Career guidance will provide insights into career opportunities within the seafood sector. Industry visits and workshops that offer students hands-on experiences, developing a deeper understanding of the seafood supply chain and its importance to the regional economy.

 

Fishmongers' Company Fisheries Programme Manager, Dr Eleanor Adamson said "We are delighted to welcome Joanne to the SGHA team as our Schools Ambassador. This appointment demonstrates our dedication to nurturing local talent, fostering educational partnerships, and inspiring the leaders of tomorrow in the seafood industry. The new Schools Ambassador role complements our wider work across education and the fish trade, and together with our national Fish into School Hero initiative, aims to keep raising the profile of seafood among the next generation”
